Life of a freelancer

It feel like a lifetime since I gave a life update. First and foremost, how are you doing? Covid has certainly caused more mayhem than we anticipated, especially for us small business owners. For me, business has been up and down. From being fully booked one week, to losing 3 clients the next, now back to being fully booked and in demand - it has been a rollercoaster. But I know that this isn’t just with my business. With rules changing constantly for bricks & mortar businesses, along with the constant worry of “Will I have enough money in the pot this month?”, it has not been easy and feels like the light at the end of the tunnel is getting further away. So how can we make the most of this unpredictable situation?

For me, I have looked at where my business can grow, and how I can utilise my platform to helps others. By doing this, I have seen an increase in sales which I am ecstatic about! By using a bit of creativity and using it to help others, I have helped myself by doing so. I’ve also had to be realistic. I’ve looked at what is achievable given the current circumstances and if something falls through, what is my back up. Truth is there isn’t always a back up! And that is okay for the time being.

Using Time Wisely

What is achievable at the moment is using my time wisely. My little one is back at nursery, the partner is working more hours and at university, and I myself are keeping things going here at Aesthetic Roots as well as going to do my postgraduate in Digital Marketing & Data Analytics (woo!). A lot going on means managing my time effectively. I can categorically say by time blocking and creating a routine, the past few weeks have been a breeze! If you haven’t already, please try time blocking. It allows you to see where all your time goes, where you waste time and where you can make the most of it.

I won’t leave it as long next time for a brief update into my life, but please check out my socials (down below) for regular updates, tips, tricks and offers from my wonderful world at Aesthetic Roots VA.
