Investing in your business for free

It can be hard to reinvest more money into your business, especially if you are in the early stages and reusing profits to keep just the basics going. However it is not just money you can reinvest - it is your own time too. By doing so, you are making sure your business can stand the test of time and continue to grow from strength to strength.

I've picked out 4 key business areas you may want to consider investing in to ensure your brands longevity.

Photography & Videography

Yes, most of us have amazing phone cameras. We tend to quickly whip them out for a quick Instagram pic and be done with it. I also know that many of you love a good stock photo (me included). But there is only so much Canva and Unsplash can do, and let's be real, most of us aren't professional photographers. This is why I tell clients to invest in some brand photos or videos. From branding images to website shots, hiring a pro to capture these is a way to enhance your brands look, as well as gaining inspiration for taking your own.

I recently invested in stock images from For You Photography. They honestly couldn't have turned out more perfect. It has also allowed me to be inspired with my own photography skills, by providing me with a creative spark to develop my own image portfolio. It is amazing what a photographers creative flair can do to you!

If you don't want to pay for photos or videos, then contact a local photographer for advice on taking your own. Many are willing to give you tips on getting that all-important shot, so pop them a message today to see if they can help.

Social Media Management

This may sound like a shameless plug but you will be surprised how investing in this area of your business will do wonders for your growth. There are many specialists (including myself) that focus on all things social media. From content creating, planning, engaging and growth strategies, our lot know how to use social media for the greater good.

We are committed to using your business goals to build content and strategies to captivate your perfect audience and get that ROI. Plus, the chances are you will learn a thing or two along the way!

Also take stock that many of us offer freebies. Things such as content ideas for each month and creative ways to use your stories tend to be offered up for free. Check our socials at the start or the end of each month, as that is when we tend to share them.

Ad Spending

Many small businesses are now keen to invest in online advertising. Now many Social Media Managers often do this too, but if you haven't got one you can do it yourself. There are 100's of free courses about online advertising which will guide you in the right direction. Facebook Blue Print and Google Digital Garage have some of the best guides to creating adverts, so I recommend checking them out.

I also recommend you spend time researching your audience, who you want to target and really nail down the purpose of your ad spending. This will make sure you are investing the right amount and not have it go to waste.

Equipment

This may be a given, but for any business you need to make sure you have great (and safe) equipment. It doesn't necessarily need to be the most up to date tech, but it does have to be able to handle the work you do. Ask your peers in your industry what they recommend and check out reputable second-hand websites as you are most likely to find a bargain there!
